How I Create Content to Sell My Digital Products

The exact content strategy I use to film just 2 days a month and make daily digital product sales.

I film just 2 days a month to create content that brings me daily digital product sales, without spending my whole week making content for social media. My printable YouTube, Pinterest and email workflows are included free when you get Tori.ai, and in this article I'll show you how those pieces fit together to help you sell.

Because when you're trying to run a business, staring at a blank content calendar every Monday gets old very quickly. You need to know what you're talking about, who it's for and where you're sending them when they're interested.

The idea behind my content workflow

Start with the digital product you want to sell and a question your buyer is asking. Create something useful around that question, help the right people find it, then give them a relevant next step. Your content, your website and your emails should all help someone move towards a purchase.

Why isn't your content leading to digital product sales?

You can spend hours on a reel, get a few likes and still have no idea whether anyone even looked at your product.

Before you make another one, look at what happens after someone sees it. Does it attract the person your product is for? Can they see how your product helps? Is there an obvious link to follow?

Say you sell a meal-planning template. A post about struggling to decide what to cook after work could attract someone who would use it. Show them how planning a few dinners takes that decision off their plate, then link to the template. They can connect the problem they have with the thing you're selling.

That's an example, but you can apply the same thinking to your own product. If someone enjoys your content but can't see why they'd want what you sell, posting more of it won't solve that.

How do you choose where to create content?

I don't have the social battery to be on live all the time. I've said this in my training: for me, TikTok is a recipe for burnout.

So when you're choosing a platform, think about where your buyer looks for help and what you can realistically keep doing. If you enjoy teaching something in depth, that gives you a different starting point from someone who loves making short videos.

My advice is to choose a platform you can commit to. Go really deep. Give it your all. You don't need to set yourself the job of becoming a full-time creator on every app while you're also trying to sell your product.

In my business, YouTube, Pinterest and email have different jobs. YouTube gives me room to teach. Pinterest can help people discover content through a relevant search. Email gives me a way to keep talking to the people who want to hear from me.

How the content connects to a sale
  1. Help them find youA question they're already askingMake the topic relevant to the person who would buy your product.
  2. Give them a reason to staySomething useful to watch or readTeach, demonstrate or answer the question properly.
  3. Keep the conversation goingA relevant email follow-upHelp interested subscribers understand what your product could do for them.
  4. Make the next step easyA clear link to your productSend them somewhere that delivers what your content promised.

How do I create content without starting from scratch every time?

I want to get more use out of the teaching I've already done. If I've explained something in a YouTube video, that idea can also become an article someone finds through Pinterest, or an email that helps a subscriber with the same problem.

Each version needs to work where someone finds it. A pin needs to give them a reason to click. The article needs to answer the question the pin raised. The email needs to make sense to the person reading it in their inbox.

For example, a video about selling through email could become an article that explains the approach, with pins leading to that article. Someone who wants help putting it into practice can then follow a relevant product link. That's the connection I want you to think about before you turn one idea into lots of content.

If you're stuck on choosing a subject for the week, start with my weekly-theme approach to deciding what to post. Pick a topic that matters to your buyer, then work out where it fits into your sales plan.

Where does email fit into selling your digital product?

Business is about relationships. Someone might watch your video or read an article and like what you're saying, but they might need more information before they're ready to buy.

That's one reason I love email. When someone chooses to join your list, you can keep helping them, answer the questions they still have and tell them about your product. You have a way to follow up without hoping they happen to see your next social post.

Keep the connection clear. If the freebie they signed up for helps them with one problem, your emails and product should make sense as the next step. A bigger list doesn't help much if those people came for something unrelated to what you sell.

I've explained this in more detail in Emails That Sell Your Digital Product, including the video training if you'd like to watch me walk through it.

What do my printable content workflows help with?

Once you know what you're creating, you still need to get it finished and out into the world. There are lots of little jobs between having an idea and having content that sends someone to your product.

My printable workflows give you something to work through as you do that. They're the YouTube, Pinterest and email workflows I use in my own digital product business, so you can see the process and follow it while you're doing the work.

The full printables are included as a bonus when you buy Tori.ai. You can print them out and refer back to them as you work on your content.

No. Start with a platform that suits your buyer and that you can commit to. You can build on that as you find out what brings relevant people to your product.

Yes. Tori uses information about your product and audience to help you choose a platform and build a personalised 30-day traffic plan, including content topics and hooks.
